What are Bumbazi bags made from?
Each bag is handcrafted from handwoven Indian jute kilim, finished with buffalo leather trims and straps, brass detailing, and durable YKK zippers. Because our bags are handmade, slight variations in pattern and texture are part of their unique charm.
Where are Bumbazi bags made?
Our bags are handmade in Rajasthan, India, by family-run artisan businesses. The kilim rugs used in our designs are woven and dyed using traditional techniques passed down through generations.
How are the yarns dyed?
The yarns used in our kilim rugs are coloured with natural or eco-friendly dyes derived from plants and minerals. The fibres are often sun-dried, and in many cases heated over log fires, which reduces reliance on electricity and limits unnecessary pollution. This traditional method helps protect the environment while keeping centuries-old craft alive.
Are Bumbazi bags sustainable and ethical?
Yes! Sustainability and craftsmanship are at the heart of Bumbazi. We work with family-run artisan workshops in Rajasthan, supporting local economies and traditional weaving. By using natural dyes, sun-drying methods, and responsibly sourced buffalo leather, we aim to reduce environmental impact while creating bags designed to last for years.
How should I care for my bag?
- Spot clean only with a soft cloth, cold water, and mild soap.
- Do not machine wash or fully immerse in water.
- Avoid overloading to protect the leather’s strength and shape.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Condition the leather occasionally with a quality balm.
Do you restock sold-out designs?
Bumbazi bags are produced in limited collections. Once a design sells out, it may not return in exactly the same form. We encourage you to sign up for our newsletter or follow us on Instagram to hear about new collections and restocks first.
